Oct. 25: SNOW! Mammoth Lakes
Yes, we saw snow today as we drove up to the ski area.
And it was too cold and windy to do anything! The gondola we were going to ride was shut down due to the wind advisory. I was hardly able to get the door open to take this video!
Actually Mammoth Lakes wasn't named after the wooly dinosaur. It was the name of a mining company that started in this town at its inception.

On our way back to town, we took the Scenic Mammoth Lakes loop. It's 16 miles long, 10 of which are through the forest of pine trees. When you come out of the forest, you will see these mountains.
We went to the Village at Mountain Lakes and was treated to this native.
There wasn't really a lot to do as it's considered "shoulder season" and several places were closed.
We were back in time to watch some football, including USF's last minute lost to Memphis. :-(
